Design Books by Marion Parola

This is Marions' book 'The Life Wear Project' that details all the design processes that she used during her Masters Degree at the Glasgow School of Art.

The book is broken down chronologically starting with historical and fashion research. Finishing with how her ideas start to take shape as three dimensional garment shapes. Throughout she talks about what fashion is available on the market for parents and children. Looking at specific brands, such as Petit Bateau who succeeded by creating clothes for a very broad range of ages. In this book Marion also shows that inspiration can come from other sources such as films or architecture.

It is a very personal vision on what she is designing and how she goes about it.

Furthermore, the aesthetic of the book should explain the content without having to read the whole text. The way Marion has placed images, using their size and colour codes is aimed at sharing with you a quick understanding of her main points. Transparent papers with annotations are placed through the book to give quick explanations of key images. The graphics and different papers used in the book are inspired by the drawings, colour and fabric research.
